The Harris School of Public Policy invites applications for a Senior Lecturer and Executive Director of MSCEP to manage and teach in a new Masters of Science Degree in Climate and Energy Policy (MSCEP). The primary responsibilities of this position involve the management of the new MSCEP degree, which Harris is offering in partnership with the University’s Institute for Climate and Sustainable Growth (ICSG), and teaching in the MSCEP and other Harris programs. The degree is designed to address the growing demand for professionals with expertise in climate policy, energy systems, and data-driven decision-making. The curriculum will prepare students to engage in policy analysis, economic evaluation, and technological assessment related to climate change, energy systems, and sustainable growth.
Responsibilities will include:
- Oversee the MSCEP curriculum’s evolution, refinement, and course design, in collaboration with the faculty director.
- Develop and implement the degree’s capstone course, which will include projects that students execute in collaboration with external partners.
- Teach 4 for-credit, quarter-length courses (including sections of the capstone course), policy labs, or pedagogical equivalent per academic year. Courses may be in the MSCEP and/or other degree programs offered by the School. Courseload may be reduced in the first two years of the program, given the expected intensity of program development during these years.
- Recommend for hire, supervise, and evaluate part-time Lecturers and full-time Instructional Professors who teach in the MSCEP or in other Harris courses that cover energy, climate, or environmental topics.
- Assist the faculty director, and Harris and ICSG leadership, in overseeing MSCEP staff and budget, and raising external awareness.
- Design and oversee the execution of extra-curricular student experiences, coordinating with Harris and ICSG staff.
- Work with Harris and ICSG staff on developing and executing a strategy for career development in climate and energy.
