Mentor: Eyal Frank, Assistant Professor, Harris School of Public Policy

Laura Husband is a student at UChicago in the class of 2025 studying Economics and Environmental Science. Her research interests lie at the intersection of energy, climate policy, and environmental economics, with a focus on clean energy transitions. During her summer as a Polsky Research Fellow, she worked with Professor Eyal Frank on a research project estimating methane emissions from factory farms and evaluating the impact of anaerobic digesters. After the fellowship, Husband will be working at the U.S. Department of the Treasury in the Office of International Development Policy, focusing on climate and environment funds.

“This fellowship gave me a strong foundation in understanding the real-world challenges of measuring and mitigating emissions, which I will carry forward as I evaluate and shape international climate finance initiatives. Longer term, I plan to continue working at the intersection of climate and development policy, applying the analytical, technical, and policy skills I gained through my experiences at UChicago to support global efforts to address climate change.”
