“I’ve always been interested in machine learning and its applications, specifically related to data analysis, but I’ve never really considered using such mathematical and statistical models in an environmental context, especially given that the output was not just quantitative but also qualitative in terms of the policy recommendations that we created. It was really rewarding for me to see how data analysis itself has other applications besides just quantifying data.”
