Yasmin Ali is a third-year Global Studies major at the University of Chicago (College ’26), focusing on law, borders, and security, with a minor in Near Eastern Languages & Civilizations (Arabic). She has interned with U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar’s office in Washington, D.C., and at David Axelrod’s Institute of Politics, collaborating with national political leaders. On campus, she works as a student assistant at the Pearson Institute for the Study and Resolution of Global Conflicts, where she helped organize the 2024 Global Forum on “Negotiation and Agreement.” Also, Yasmin is a current U.S. State Department VSFS intern with the U.S. Embassy in Baku, Azerbaijan. At COP29, she is interested in observing climate diplomacy, negotiation tactics across legal systems, and exploring how public, private, and nonprofit sectors discuss funding humanitarian and security responses to climate change. Yasmin hails from the state of Minnesota, she enjoys baking, listening to podcasts, and exploring Chicago neighborhoods with friends. In the future, she hopes to pursue a career in the international development field focusing on the Red Sea region.
