Thomas is a second year undergraduate at the University of Chicago studying Economics and Cognitive Science. On campus, Thomas is an analyst for the Sustainable Investment Group and debates at various tournaments across the country for the Chicago Debate Society. At his core, Thomas is passionate about improving the lives of the Hispanic community through the development of sustainable education and policy initiatives. Throughout high school, he served as Vice-Chair of the Maryland Youth Advisory Council, advocating for legislation that supports youth in achieving the American Dream and leading youth engagement efforts for his county’s first $4.3 million youth center. Passionate about storytelling, he taught English to over 120 immigrants at Centro Hispano, a local nonprofit, falling in love with the stories of the student he taught. In addition to his advocacy work, he DJs; and, inspired by the stories of his students, he writes poetry.
Through this fellowship in New Delhi and Ahmedabad, Thomas is excited to understand how community leaders are bringing stakeholders together to construct sustainable solutions while balancing economic needs.
