Nigel is a second-year undergraduate student at the College (’27) majoring in environmental science. His upbringing in the Caribbean Island of Dominica has fueled his interest in studying human-environment interactions in response to natural disasters and ongoing changes in climate. Nigel hoped to explore this focus on the international level through his participation in the 2025 India Summer Fellows Program.

“My time in India as a Climate Fellow provided me with a truly unforgettable learning experience. Through culturally immersive excursions and thought-provoking lectures and activities, this fellowship was instrumental in giving me a holistic view of the various climate challenges and mitigation strategies within India. It was also fascinating to see how climate awareness and sustainability were implemented in multiple career disciplines at the community, regional, and international level. These three impactful weeks also gave me the opportunity to connect with a vibrant community of undergraduate and graduate students whose passion for environmental consciousness fueled engaging discussions and fun-filled collaborations. Overall, I am extremely grateful to have been a part of this transformative fellowship and hope to return to India soon!”
