Fran has worked in science communications and research for over a decade. She got her start in federal government as a public affairs and communications specialist first for the National Institute of Standards and Technology and then for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. She’s also led communications for nonprofits from the grassroots to the global, advocating for species conservation and the renewable energy transition. Most recently, Fran led communications and research for a STEM outreach program within the College of Engineering at the University of Rhode Island. She has an M.S. in Oceanography from the University of Rhode Island and an M.A. in Journalism from the University of Missouri.
