Polsky Research Fellow, 2026; India Summer Fellow, 2025
Nigel is an undergraduate student at the College (’27) majoring in environmental science. His upbringing in the Caribbean Island of Dominica has fueled his interest in studying human-environment interactions in response to natural disasters and ongoing changes in climate. As a Polsky Fellow, Nigel will be working under Joshua Horton, B.B Cael, and David Keith to conduct research on current climate system engineering experiments and analyze how these efforts should be designed in alignment with policy frameworks and sustainability considerations.
Nigel also participated in the Institute’s 2025 India Summer Fellows Program.
“My time in India as a Climate Fellow provided me with a truly unforgettable learning experience. Through culturally immersive excursions and thought-provoking lectures and activities, this fellowship was instrumental in giving me a holistic view of the various climate challenges and mitigation strategies within India. It was also fascinating to see how climate awareness and sustainability were implemented in multiple career disciplines at the community, regional, and international level. These three impactful weeks also gave me the opportunity to connect with a vibrant community of undergraduate and graduate students whose passion for environmental consciousness fueled engaging discussions and fun-filled collaborations. Overall, I am extremely grateful to have been a part of this transformative fellowship and hope to return to India soon!”
