Genevieve is a fourth-year molecular engineering major (College ’25) on the chemical engineering track. Genevieve is minoring in molecular engineering for sustainable energy and water resources, with research interests in catalysis and reaction engineering for sustainability. Beyond molecular engineering, Genevieve loves traveling, learning about other languages and cultures, and making ceramic sculptures. At COP29, Genevieve hopes to continue building a breadth of knowledge around climate and sustainability, particularly with regard to the interface of technology with policy and economy. Genevieve firmly believes that being a responsible and impactful engineer requires understanding both the human and physical aspects of the world she is working in.

“Many of the presentations hosted in COP29’s greenzone made an effort to give a voice to the Global South and other groups underrepresented on the climate and environmental policy stage, and from these voices I often heard frustration at a lack of progress on seemingly clear-cut issues. While some believe this is only natural for a process built on compromise, it has made me determined to ensure that I value and consider seriously the voices I hear. Attending COP29 has given me new insight into what climate equity means and the challenges we have to overcome to achieve it.”
