Elena Tiedens is a fourth year in the College (’25) studying History with a concentration in Environmental History, and a minor in Russian and Eastern European Studies. She is currently writing her thesis on nuclear energy in the Russian Arctic. Elena has also held internships in domestic and international environmental policy and law at the Wilderness Society and the Earth Law Center. Elena is excited to learn from a diversity of international perspectives on energy transitions and environmental change at COP29. She believes that solutions to climate change must address the distinct political and historical conditions of different regions across the world.
