Abbey Figueroa is a rising fourth year in the College pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies and Race, Diaspora, and Indigeneity and a Master of Arts in the Social Work, Policy, and Practice. This summer she will be conducting research in reproductive care and justice in Puerto Rico, specifically analyzing the ongoing impact of the sterilization programs in 1960-1970. On campus, she is dedicated to social justice and involved in student organizing through UChicago Against Displacement and Care Not Cops. Additionally, she is part of the UChicago Womxn’s Rugby team. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, crocheting, and spending time with friends.
