Wetlands protect clean water, mitigate flood risks, and serve as critical wildlife habitats. Unfortunately, around 90 percent of Illinois wetlands have been destroyed. Illinois PIRG (Public Interest Research Group) is trying to pressure Governor Pritzker to establish a wetlands protection program by the end of the 2026 legislative session. In order to do so, we need to demonstrate broad public support through tactics like petition signatures, business sign-ons, calls to his office, media visibility, and more…and we need YOUR help to do so.

Students can get involved as volunteers, leaders, and interns. Social change work is not only rewarding, but it also provides a lot of meaningful skills and experience for resume-building, and can open the door to various career opportunities.
