Deadline: May 15, 2026

Location: Chicago, IL

Providing recent graduates and graduate students with a paid work placement and apprenticeship that exposes them to careers in the climate solutions field.

Fellowship Background

In 2023, EcoHealth created an early-career fellowship in honor of the late science fiction writer Octavia E. Butler – one of the progenitors of afrofuturism. Octavia E. Butler crafted narratives that allowed Black women, women, and all marginalized groups to see themselves in the fight to protect the climate. Her stories wove science fiction, Black injustice, the importance of community, and dystopian narratives to shape our futures.

Through the Octavia E. Butler Fellowship Program, EcoHealth Strategies provides Chicago-based recent graduates and graduate students with a paid work placement and apprenticeship experience that exposes them to careers in the climate solutions field.
