This summer opportunity is part of a new partnership between the Institute for Climate and Sustainable Growth and the Institute of Politics. All University of Chicago students enrolled in the College are eligible to apply for a summer internship as part of the inaugural UChicago Polsky Summer 2026 Policy Fellowship Program. Graduate students are not eligible to apply. The selected student will receive a $6,000 stipend for 320 hours or 8 weeks of full-time work for the fellowship. Overview of Organization: The Risk Division at the CGC is responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing risks across the organization’s investment portfolio and operations. This team ensures that CGC’s capital deployment strategies are financially sound, compliant, and aligned with the organization’s mission to scale clean energy investment. The division plays a critical role in evaluating potential investments, structuring deals, and monitoring portfolio performance to mitigate financial, operational, and market and policy risks. It works closely with investment, legal, and finance teams to develop risk frameworks, conduct due diligence, and ensure adherence to regulatory and internal policies.
Internship Summary: For an intern, this team offers exposure to:
- Financial and credit risk analysis

- Cross-functional collaboration on investment decisions
Responsibilities:
- Support financial, market, policy and credit risk research related to clean energy and climate-focused investments.
- Conduct research on energy markets, industry trends, regulatory developments, and macroeconomic factors impacting investment decisions.
- Assist in preparing presentations, briefing materials, dashboards, and analytical summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support data collection, organization, and analysis for risk modeling and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across finance, policy, research, and external partner organizations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current undergraduate with interest in finance, economics, climate and energy, public policy, mathematics, statistics, or related fields.
- Strong analytical, research, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to synthesize complex information into concise and actionable insights.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Location/Modality/Commute: CGC’s office is located at 1875 Connecticut Avenue NW, 10th Floor, Washington, D.C. 20009. This role is seeking candidates based in NY, but CGC will also consider applicants in D.C. Please indicate which location(s) you are interested in.
Start/End Date: Summer internships run from June 1 through September 25. Exact start and end dates will be determined during the interview process.
