About the Speaker
Ben Kalina is an independent documentary filmmaker, producer, director, and professor who has created award-winning content for over 20 years. He is the owner of Mangrove Media. Ben’s work has won awards at Sundance, screened nationally and internationally and been distributed through cable, streaming, theatrical, and DVD release. His work explores the colliding forces of human nature, social and environmental change. His features cover sea level rise to solar geoengineering, charting the emergent edges of climate change and technology.
One of Kalina’s recent films, Plan C for Civilization, features University of Chicago Professors David Keith and Elisabeth Moyer, along with President Paul Alivisatos. Kalina will also be joining a screening and Q&A for the movie on April 21.
